Hawthorn District 73 elementary schools collectively raised more than $40,000 for the American Heart Association in its annual Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser.
Hawthorn Elementary South School raised $15,000 alone. Top student fundraisers from Elementary South was third grader Roman Zaslavakiy who raised $675 followed by fifth grader Austin Skinner who raised $640.
Jump Rope For Heart is a national fundraising event sponsored by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). These events engage students with jumping rope while empowering them to improve their own health and help other students with heart-health issues.
