The school year is off to a wonderful start. It is so great to have the children back in the building. Excitement is in the air as 736 students are ready to learn and grow with us. It was so great to see so many of you at Opening Activities. Thanks to the family alliance for planning a wonderful “BACK TO SCHOOL BASH”. It was so much fun to kick off our year bouncing on the moonwalks, eating ice cream, and bonding with our Elementary South Family.
We had a great kick-off assembly to introduce our BERNSTEIN UNIT on creating a “Habitat of Happiness”. This year we will explore the importance of joyful learning and taking responsibility for making our environment happy. At that assembly, we reviewed our behavior code and bus expectations with all students in the building. Please make sure you review these documents with your child and sign that you support our founding behaviors of RESPECT AND RESPONSIBILITY. If you have not returned your code of conduct, please do so as soon as possible. It is important that we have 100% support of all Hawthorn Elementary South family members supporting respect and responsibility in our school.
If you have any questions or input, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me. I can be reached at email@example.com or (847) 990-4800. Wishing you all a wonderful fall!
All the best,
Please remember that students should arrive between 8:15 and 8:30 am. During that time, they will have either a morning recess or a breakfast option. Adult supervision begins at 8:15 on the playground. Students will enter the building at 8:30 and should be in their seats and ready to learn at 8:40. Thank your for your support with this!
The Hawthorn Parent Teacher Organization works so hard on behalf of our students. If you are able to support this organization, we would really appreciate your involvement. Membership is $10.00 and these funds go directly to the students. For more information, please contact Stacy Streb, our school vice president. And remember… you are the “P” in the PTO.
With fall weather coming and going, this is just a reminder that we do go outside for recess. It is also very difficult to regulate the temperature in the building. Please have your child dress appropriately for the changing temperatures. Layers are best!
