Quick Weekly Update

Good morning Hawthorn Elementary South,

We hope you had a wonderful week of “Remote Learning”, had fun with our STEM CHALLENGE, and got outside to fly your homemade KITE!  Please enjoy this week’s video:

The end of the school year is quickly approaching and we are HOPEFUL that we will flatten the curve and get to see you all again before the summer.  We were able to complete this year’s YEARBOOK, but unfortunately we are unable to take any additional orders at this time.  If you did not order, don’t worry, we did order many EXTRA BOOKS that we will sell once we are together again.

The Illinois Department of Human Services has launched a support line called Call4Calm. If you would like to speak with a mental health professional, text the word “TALK” for English speakers and “HABLAR” for Spanish speakers to the number 552-020. You will soon be connected with a healthcare professional in our area. You may also text keywords like “unemployment,” “food,” or “shelter” to receive information and support. The Call4Calm service is free, and callers remain anonymous.

We recognize that circumstances may be changing for many of our families, and invite you to register for daily meal service (breakfast and lunch). Meals are free, and available to any child 18 years or younger residing in our community. To help ensure we have the appropriate amount of food available for distribution, families in need of meal service are asked to complete this form.

Next week is EARTH WEEK.  Start thinking about ways to celebrate the EARTH and don’t forget to reduce, reuse, and recycle!

Stay HEALTHY and WELL! We miss you!

Dr. Martin and Mrs. Hunter
