Meet the Principal

Welcome back families, staff, and students! 

It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I welcome you to the 2022-2023 academic school year.  I am honored to serve our HES family as their Principal and look forward to making this a remarkable school year filled with learning, growth, and fun! With a school-wide theme of "HOME of the Soaring Eagles," I believe all students, families and staff who walk through Hawthorn Elementary South must not only feel connected, but also valued and respected. Through meaningful collaboration, high-expectations, engaging learning experiences, equitable opportunities, and a willingness to learn from one another, our school will continue to provide an award-winning experience for all students - every one, every day. 

Growing up the area, I have a true appreciation and respect for the Hawthorn community. Hawthorn District 73 is a special place filled with diversity, culture, passion and kindness. As a parent and an educator, I know that elementary school years are important and critical times for our students. Therefore, our school should be a safe place where children can learn, grow, develop friendships and build solid foundational skills for their futures.    

As we begin the school year, please know I value and want your input and feedback. The only true way to grow and become better is through reflection, change and action. Your child’s well-being and overall success is my top priority.  I look forward to meeting each one of you as the school year progresses. You will find that my door is always open and I am always here to support you in any possible way.
