About Elementary South

Hawthorn Elementary South School, located in Vernon Hills, Illinois, is a first through fifth grade building serving approximately 490 students. We celebrate the diversity of our students, who speak more than 30 different languages and come together each day to learn and grow together. At Hawthorn, we truly believe that all children can learn at high levels. We provide masterful learning activities in which students explore and deeply engage with content in a joyful, exciting manner. We believe there is nothing more important than growing the whole child by combining robust academics with a full social emotional curriculum. It is our collective responsibility to connect with each and every child in a way that motivates and inspires our students to achieve academic and social emotional growth.
