First Grade Receives Field Trip Grant

Congratulations to first grade teacher Ms. Bleck! Her Illinois Biodiversity Field Trip Grant application to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Division of Education has been reviewed by a panel of judges and approved to pay for bus transportation and admission fees for a field trip. Elementary South first graders will be going to the Heller Nature Center in Highland Park, Illinois. Heller’s Education Program offers an opportunity for students to learn about the natural world through experiences in an outdoor setting. The children will discover the four basic components of all habitats and how they are important to the survival of living things. Students will get a first-hand look at habitats and adaptations. Thank you to Illinois Conservation Foundation and Independence Tube Corporation for providing this grant.
