On August 22, 2013, Dr. Martin and Mrs. Hunter met with every grade level in the building to KICK OFF this year’s Bernstein Unit on Empathy. We read the book, Stand In My Shoes – Kids Learning About Empathy, talked about the importance of understanding the feelings of others, and of course, about RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY. We are so excited about this year’s unit where students will explore that empathy is the ability to understand each other’s feelings! We will learn to value and respect each individual’s similarities and differences and will emphasize the importance of having empathy for others.
Please show your support by signing this year’s behavior code and bus pledge and return it to your child’s teacher.
