Assessments

January is a busy time for us here at Elementary South. Students will be participating in a variety of assessments to measure their progress so far this year. Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade have begun to take the Winter MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) in both reading and math. These assessments will continue into next week.

Students in Kindergarten and first grade have been completing the Winter AIMSweb benchmark assessment which will measure their progress in Early Literacy and Numeracy skills. The tests are individually administered and are each one minute in duration.  They help us to identify students who may need additional support or enrichment.

The tests provide important information for us on how to best help your child learn and grow.

State Assessment Update and FAQ

In the spring of 2015, Illinois, along with many other states, will be assessing our students in a very different way.  Please take a few moments to look at the information below from the National PTA and our State Superintendent on how these changes will affect our students in the coming years.  As always, we thank you for your continued support of your child’s education at Hawthorn.
