Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! The entire Hawthorn Elementary South Staff is so excited to have the children back in the building. We are buzzing with excitement for the new school year to begin! It was great to see so many of you at our new to South playdate, the “Back to School Bash”, and “Get Acquainted Day”. By attending events such as these, it shows us how important school is to your family. Thank you for partnering with us in educating your child. Our family alliance does such a great job planning the bash. If you are interested in helping to plan our family events for the year, please contact the school office and we will put you in touch with our alliance members.
I would also like to thank the Hawthorn PTO for over $92,000.00 that was given to the buildings to support learning for the children. This money will be allocated to provide opportunities for teachers to extend curriculum with field trips, assemblies, resources and materials, and any other equipment to help meet student needs. The PTO is also donating money to support technology in the district. We are so excited about our new technology opportunities in the classrooms. It is awesome! We appreciate your continued support!
This year at Hawthorn Elementary South, we are instituting a new behavior system called SOAR Above the Line. Additional information about this program is on the back of this newsletter. I am confident that our students will have a great year full of learning and social emotional growth. We are all looking forward to the best school year ever!
As always, if you have any questions or input, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me. I can be reached at email@example.com or (847) 990-4800. Wishing you all a wonderful fall!
